Recently, BOLDplanning subject matter experts, Kayla McMahan and James Woulfe, traveled to North Carolina, to host an all-day, in-person Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan Development Workshop for Avery County. Joining them was Harold Joyner from Disasters, Strategies & Ideas Group LLC (DSI), a BOLDplanning partner in preparedness. And coordinating the workshop was Paul Buchanan, Avery County Fire Marshal, and Emergency Management Director.
During the workshop, participants received a brief presentation on COOP planning elements and began creating their departmental plans using the BOLDplanning platform (it’s the solution of choice for over 10,000 continuity, emergency, and hazard mitigation plans nationwide). Planners also had the opportunity to identify essential functions for their respective departments and link all interdependencies (personnel, facilities, essential records/resources, etc.) to the countywide COOP. Further, planners were able to use the BOLDplanning platform to develop other key sections of their COOP plan, including communications, alert and notification procedures, etc.
On behalf of everyone at BOLDplanning, a division of Agility Recovery, congratulations on a job well done!
Special thanks to DSI (namely Harold Joyner, Marcia Warfel, and Joe Myers) for involving BOLDplanning in Avery County’s COOP planning efforts. And of course, Paul Buchanan, for facilitating the day’s activities. We look forward to seeing you again.
