The City of Greenwood Village, Colorado, nestled within the city limits of Denver, recently completed a series of Continuity of Operations (COOP) workshops and plan reviews to assist with the updates to all department continuity plans.
The process began in April 2020 when Greenwood Village planners remotely attended a COOP “refresher” course where BOLDplanning facilitator, James Woulfe, CBCP, FEMA PCP, guided them through the online DenverMetroCOOP.org platform and provided additional planning instruction. Next, during the month of May 2020, BOLDplanning’s team of Certified Business Continuity Professionals and FEMA Professional Continuity Practitioners reviewed all plans for completeness and accuracy. Plan review reports were provided to each Greenwood Village planner, helping them to further develop their departmental plans and ultimately, their overarching COOP.
Finally, on Monday, September 14, 2020, city planners closed out this series of plan updates by attending a COOP Advanced Practitioner workshop (again led by BOLDplanning representative, James Woulfe). It was at this time that James taught department heads and planning participants how to successfully implement a COOP Program as well as how to activate and use the continuity plan and its all-important information.
