Just as the COVID-19 pandemic continues so must the emergency preparedness efforts of public and private sector organizations nationwide.

Consider this. The Atlantic Hurricane Season is well underway with Isiasis recently barreling through (and hurricane season doesn’t end until November 1st); the drought/wildfire outlook is now considered significant by the National Interagency Fire Center; and of course, there’s a lot of talk in the medical/public health community about a second wave of coronavirus.

Further, the annual flu season is just around the corner, which, according to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), is responsible for 200 million days of diminished productivity and 75 million days of work absences.

As bleak as it sounds, situations such as these are all the more reason to ensure your organization is fully prepared for whatever may come its way. That means having a comprehensive, current, and actionable Continuity of Operations/Government (COOP/COG) plan and Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). It also means having the proper mitigation measures in place to reduce the risk of damage to life and property.

Chances are your organization has learned a lot more about emergency preparedness since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We all have. And, we’re continuing to learn more every day.

The challenge is to apply that knowledge to your organization’s COOP/COG or EOP at a time when resources may be limited and staff may be working remotely. Fortunately, by using online tools such as videoconferencing, planning and preparedness don’t have to stop. That includes all-important COOP/COG and EOP workshops, which give participants the opportunity to collectively update and improve their organizations’ plans.

If you’re among the many public and private sector clients BOLDplanning serves, you do have options for continuing your emergency preparedness efforts during this difficult time. And, to do so from the comfort (and safety) of your own home or office using BOLDplanning REMOTE

BOLDplanning REMOTE takes the company’s proven on-premise planning process to the web, offering our full range of services through online meetings. All sessions are led by the same team of certified professionals that facilitates our traditional, in-person workshops.

Speaking of which, for those BOLDplanning clients who prefer face-to-face meetings, the company has now resumed travel (when needed and where safety precautions can be ensured). Of course, prior to any travel, a BOLDplanning representative will work directly with your organization to understand its current pandemic environment and workplace safety policies. He or she will also help ensure every training room and class size is compatible with social distancing guidelines.

There’s no doubt about it; these are challenging times. Still, it is crucial for organizations, large or small, public or private, to continue their emergency preparedness efforts. And, to do so at every opportunity.
