Last week, the DC Primary Care Association (DCPCA) launched its brand new Health Care Emergency & Continuity Planning (HCECP) website, DCPCAprepared.com. Megan Loucks, Director of Quality Improvement for DCPCA, hosted a series of two workshops for the members of the association on September 11 and 12, 2019, in Washington, D.C.  BOLDplanning subject matter experts (SMEs) and trainers James Woulfe, CHPCP, CHEP, and Emily Long, PCP Lvl 1, facilitated the numerous planning activities.

The workshops were designed to provide the healthcare organization with the knowledge and tools needed to build emergency and continuity plans that are compliant with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Or, more specifically, CMS’ Emergency Preparedness Rule.

Attendees of the kickoff plan development workshops learned how to navigate the BOLDplanning HCECP online planning tool, along with basic emergency management terminology and concepts. They also began building out the content of their facility’s plan(s). These workshops will later be followed up by additional workshops and the opportunity to work on their plan with BOLDplanning SMEs on-site.
