“Now, more than ever, hospitals must reevaluate [their] procedures and redefine preparation.” That’s the message from the California Hospital Association (CHA) as it heads into its annual Disaster Planning Conference, appropriately themed, “The New Norm: Adjusting Our Strategies.” The conference, which is the only statewide one developed for and by California hospitals, is scheduled for September 10-11, 2019. It will be held at the Pasadena Conference Center.
CHA believes that once rare or infrequent events such as wildfires, earthquakes and mudslides, have become regular occurrences, and that no two disasters are ever the same. It also believes that advanced preparation is an absolute essential. Planning ahead translates to limited business disruption, personnel safety, maintained data integrity, and established responsibilities during and following a disaster event.
Among the many relevant topics to be addressed during the annual conference are health care resiliency, climate change, pediatric surge plans, accreditation, and ethics. And, among the many exhibitors that attendees can expect to see is Tennessee-based BOLDplanning.
