If you are involved in emergency management/hazard mitigation in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania, this information is for you. On March 21, 2022, FEMA published a funding notice on Grants.gov for the “Swift Current” initiative. And it’s worth an estimated total of $60 million!

Swift Current is a new, federal initiative within the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program that seeks to expedite awards after a flooding event and reduce the complexity of the application process. The application period opens April 1, 2022.

According to FEMA, applications must be submitted in the Mitigation eGrants system, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The deadline to apply is 12:00 PM ET on October 3, 2022. As always, applications received after the deadline will not be considered for funding.
