As the COVID-19 pandemic continues into the second calendar year, many jurisdictions across the country have found that maintaining and updating their Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans has proved vital in staying operational in the face of a lengthy disruption from normal operations.

One of those jurisdictions is the City of Rochester, MN. Various departments from the city participated in COOP Plan Refresher training, safely and remotely, with Tennessee-based BOLDplanning, on January 25th and 26th, 2021.

Planners who attended the refresher workshop had the opportunity to review and update their continuity plans under the guidance of BOLDplanning’s subject matter expert, James Woulfe; CBCP, FEMA PCP. Specific emphasis was given to the way the pandemic has changed how we operate—now largely from home.

Special thanks to Ken Jones, Rochester’s Emergency Management Director, Jason Blum (HR), and Ryan Ostreng (Fire), for coordinating the workshops and keeping their community resilient to both short- and long-term disruptions.
