After visiting the City of Durham, North Carolina, last month, BOLDplanning returned this past week to continue the development of 46 department Continuity of Operations (COOPs) plans across both the City and County.

Company representatives, James Woulfe, CBCP, CHEP, CHPCP, and Regional Business Development and Customer Success Director, Carlin J. Alford, hosted consecutive COOP Development Midterm Workshops at the Durham County Emergency Operations Center on April 30 and May 1.

The workshops focused on furthering each agency’s plans for utilizing Alternate Facilities, adding physical resources and assets to their essential records/resources list, and identifying Primary/Mission Essential Functions. Participants also worked on establishing the interdependencies (i,e., the People, Places, and Things) for all mission-essential functions. A common reaction at the end of each class was excitement about “Finally seeing my plan come together!”

Department planners will now have approximately three weeks to continue to improve their plans prior to BOLDplanning’s Certified Business Continuity Professionals conducting a qualitative and quantitative Plan Review of each plan.

For now, it’s full steam ahead in Durham!
